LA Design Agencies

About

Most agency directories ask one question: does this studio do good work? We ask a second one that matters just as much: has this studio done good work in your industry specifically? A brand agency that's never touched a regulated healthcare client will approach a hospital system's website the same way it approaches a DTC skincare brand — and that mismatch usually surfaces halfway through the project, after the budget's already spent.

Why we sort by industry

Los Angeles has enough design talent that "who's good" isn't the hard question anymore. "Who's good at your specific problem" is. A fintech founder needs an agency that understands how to design trust into an interface before a user has ever transacted. A hospital system needs one that's already navigated a legal and compliance review process. A streaming platform needs one that understands how a brand extends across licensing and IP. Sorting by service type — web, branding, app — hides all of that. Sorting by industry surfaces it.

How we verify

We build every page from public portfolios, named clients we can independently confirm, and third-party recognition — platform partnerships, industry awards, verified review platforms — rather than a studio's own self-description. If we can't find a real, checkable client or project behind a claimed specialty, that specialty doesn't make it onto the page, even when the agency itself is worth including elsewhere.

We also don't require every listed agency to be headquartered in Los Angeles. Several of the studios here run a genuine Los Angeles office as part of a larger, multi-city practice, and we've verified that office is a real, staffed presence — not a mailing address used for local search rankings.

How agencies get added or removed

An agency earns a spot on a category page by having real, named client work in that specific industry — not by listing the industry as a service on its own site. We revisit listings periodically and remove agencies whose sites go dark, whose claims we can no longer verify, or whose work has clearly moved away from a category we've placed them in.
